Phillips
"Anxious" To See Buehler In Live Action

San
Antonio, TX., Tuesday,
August 3, 2010. Owner Jerry Jones expressed
a great deal of confidence recently in
kicker David Buehler, saying that he expects
to be paying the USC product a good bit of
money in the future. Head coach Wade
Phillips, as he should be, is more concerned
with matters close at hand.
Buehler has
never attempted a field goal in the NFL; he
is also the only kicker in San Antonio for
training camp. Considering, it’s
understandable that Phillips is somewhat
anxious about the position with the first
preseason game less than a week away.
"I'm anxious,"
coach Wade Phillips said, per ESPNDallas.com.
"I want to see him in live action in a game.
It's not the end of the world if he misses
one, I wouldn’t go that far, because it's
not fair, for one thing."
Buehler has
earned some high praise from teammates and
coaches (and, as mentioned, Jerry Jones) for
his work with Chris Boniol, but he remains
something of a work in progress. He missed
two of six attempts on Monday, after which
he was quick to express some frustration.
"I didn’t have
my best day today," said Buehler. "I went
4-for-6 and it frustrates me like no other.
I'm trying to be a perfectionist and I'm
called a specialist and I have a craft I
need to perfect, and when I miss field
goals, no matter how far it is, I get upset.
I feel like I should make every one."
